A Reminder to All Pollsters

Since the coaches and plenty of Harris poll voters seem to have forgotten, perhaps we should email them the photo above to remind them exactly who won that Texas/OU game in the Cotton Bowl a month ago.

Texas jumped Oklahoma in the Harris poll this week, but still remain behind OU in the coaches poll. Why does it matter? Because if Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma all finish with one loss (a very distinct possibility), the team with the highest BCS rating goes to the Big 12 Championship game in Kansas City. Add to it that OU's game against Chattanooga doesn't figure in most computer rankings on their strength of schedule, and it is very hard for the anti-playoff crowd to have a voice this year.

Unless, of course, Texas Tech and Alabama win out, and then of course they deserve to play the title game, no questions asked.

Texas is off to Lawrence, Kansas this week for a match-up with the up and down Kansas Jayhawks. They'll probably be a considerable favorite, but all Texas fans have to do is remember 2004 and know how tough a road game in the Big 12 can be to keep their interest piqued.
